Angelina Jolie is one brave one! Sure, part of her job as a Goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is to visit poor & war-stricken areas in the world, but it takes guts to go to Iraq these days!Jolie is in the Middle East on a two-day trip, where Iraq & Syria are on the schedule. She met with displaced Iraqis in Syria on Monday before venturing into Iraq for a few hours today to see firsthand the suffering of hundreds of thousands of families.I guess this is one way of drawing attention to the condition of the Iraqi refugees.
Angelina Jolie said: "I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to the humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners. My sole purpose in both countries is to highlight the plight of those uprooted by the war in Iraq."
Jolie, who has been to more than 20 countries since becoming a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations refugee agency six years ago, visited a makeshift camp housing 1,200 people in Iraq and spent hours speaking with Iraqis now living in Damascus.
In addition to meeting with the refugees, Jolie met privately with American troops and other multi-national forces in the region.
