The Beckhams take L.A. by storm
The Beckham family has finally arrived in Los Angeles, and as expected it was frenzy night from the start. Unlike the family’s relatively quiet departure from Heartrow, their touch-down at Los Angeles just after 8pm on Thursday night, 12 July was greeted by journos from as many as 150 media outlets (can you imagine the camera flashbulbs?), and hordes of fans. While DAVID and VICTORIA smiled and soaked up the attention, their little ones, BROOKLYN, 8, ROMEO, 4 and CRUZ, 2, were nowhere to be seen after mommy decided she didn’t want them photographed.
The family is expected to settle into their new Beverly Hills mansion immediately and (no surprises from getting this right.) BFF’s TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES are said to be hosting their first housewarming party within the next couple of weeks.

On Friday, the hard work began. Victoria a.k.a. Posh kicked it all off when she called in to RYAN SECREST’S morning radio show to give America some British accent.
“When I see your husband I feel a little ill because he’s too perfect,” Ryan said.
Posh replied: “He is very handsome. You’re handsome too! David’s got great sense of humour, he’s a fantastic husband and he’s great with the children.”
Ryan said: “You’re as sexy as you’re clever.”
Posh said: “It’s so nice that you say that. Normally what we get is, “David is so handsome, but she’s so funny.” But you know what that means; it means you’re pig with a sense of humour.” Self-depreciating humour? We like.
And she also solved the mystery of: where are the kids? “The kid went out a different exit,” Posh told Ryan. “We try to protect their privacy as much as possible. The kids actually think they’re moving to Disneyland.”

Later in the day, David, with Posh by his side, took his turn with the media when he was formally introduced as the latest member of the L.A. Galaxy soccer team. Holding up his new jersey with his name and number 23 on the back, the star footballer said: “It’s nice to see so many fans and I thank you for that. My family has moved to Los Angeles and this is something we are proud of. Right now, everything is perfect. My family is the most important thing for me but soccer is second.”
As is to stamp her mark on the fashion A-list of Hollywood, Posh also appeared at David’s L.A. Galaxy unveiling in money-can’t buy bright pink Moon Dress by Roland Mouret. The £990 limited edition origami-folded stretch cotton frock, which only goes on sale in November, is coveted by much of Hollywood’s most stylish, including SIENNA MILLER, NICOLE RICHIE and NICOLE KIDMAN. How’s that for stepping ahead in the fashion stakes?

Calling football “soccer” isn’t the only new thing David is doing – he’s also launched his new blog! Fans can now visit davidbeckham.com, where David has posted his first entry: “It also gives me the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to all my friends in Spain. After four years in Madrid, I’d just like to say thank you to the people there and Real Madrid fans for being absolutely incredible. I was so happy to be able to leave having given the fans something to celebrate by helping to win La Liga.
I am now moving on to an exciting new challenge at the L.A. Galaxy. I now have a great opportunity to raise the profile of football in America, (or soccer I should say!) and that’s something I’m genuinely excited about.”

The following Monday, Posh’s one-hour television special, Victoria Beckham: Coming to America, aired over NBC.”You see me starting off in Madrid and moving over to America. I’m looking for a house, new people to hang out with,” dished the newly-reunited Spice Girls’ member. “It’s just me getting to grips with America. I have a very British, dry sense of humour. I hope that people realized that its comedy and I’m not taking everything too seriously. You really get to see me.”
Unfortunately we don’t think the Americans are laughing, and especially not the Hollywood rich and famous. Mere sleeps after arriving in her new homeland, the 33-year-old has already ruffled the feathers of half of Tinsel town by criticising their dress sense.
“They dress quite a lot here, don’t they?” she said in her first American newspaper interview. “It seems to be in keeping to go to Starbucks in tracksuit bottoms and Ugg boots. I have one pair of tracksuit bottoms for non-photographic opportunities only. Underground car parks are fine, but aside from that, no.” Oops. The fact that most of Hollywood’s most glamorous actresses (think EVA LONGORIA, LINDSAY LOHAN, PARIS HILTON, CHARLIZE THERON, PENELOPE CRUZ, DEMI MOORE, etc.) have no problems stepping out in gym gear on a regular day seems to be lost on Posh, or is she already living up to her over styled, arrogant Brit image?

And what have the kids been up to? Well, for starters, they’ve already been to the neighborhood Toys R Us. In between their media appearances, kudos must be given to the couple for bringing the boys shopping, even if it was just a 20 minute quickie. The family emerged with bags full of toys, and little Cruz, wearing a red, white and blue polo shirt, was more than happy to wave an American flag for the photogs. (We hear Posh also managed to squeeze in a 30-minute shopping spree of her own during the day.)
In the meantime, we’re issuing a “shriveling Caleb” alert after already super skinny Posh has revealed that she intends to hire a personal trainer to whip herself into shape. She said: “You’ve got to have a beach body sort of all the time, haven’t you? I’ve got to tone up. I’ve had three children.” Don’t say we didn’t warn you now. Oh and welcome to America, Beckhams!
