DEEJAY KANE SAYS THE PAIR IS ENGAGEDWe hear wedding bells are in store for NICOLE RICHIE and JOHN MADDEN, after Joel secretly proposed to his pregnant girlfriend recently. During a performance with his band Good Charlotte, Joel was caught by surprise when the deejay announced to the crowd: “Joel got engaged yesterday. Congratulations, Joel!”
While the singer quickly made his exit without responding, deejay Kane later revealed that he’d heard the good news earlier and had offered Joel his congratulations before the performance. “He said, ‘Thank you so much,” said Kane. “They’re very excited about the baby and the wedding. They want to keep their personal life personal.”
Well if he’s popped the big one, Joel’s not talking though this isn’t the first time he’s been outed on stage. During an interview on telly the same week, he was asked by show co-host REGIS PHILBIN if he would be presenting “a little ring, or something” to four and a half months pregnant Nicole.
Joel replied: “I was hoping it would be a surprise but now…,” which made Regis do a quick about-turn and look a little embarrassed about letting the secret out.
While Nicole, 25, was not on site to cheer her man and his band on that evening, the pregnant starlet, who by the way has been released after serving just 82 minutes of her four-day jail term, was seen with her husband-to-be, seeing the sights around Washington, popping into Nathans of Georgetown restaurant for a late lunch and shopping for the impending bundle of joy at trendy Georgetown baby boutique Dawn Price Baby.
She confirmed she was pregnant on a tell-all television interview with DIANE SAWYER late July after her jail sentence was handed out. Her 28-year-old rocker boyfriend dressed in matching white and black, was by her side throughout – and looks like he intends to stick by her for a long time to come.
